ALLEN & HANBURY’S, LONDON, MILITARY DOUBLE END SURGICAL INSTRUMENT, c. 1870-95,
3 ½” MILITARY MEDICAL INSTRUMENT, with slide out medical blades on each end. The blade combination appears to be that of Syme’s Abscess and Paget’s Tenotomy knives. The piece is marked with British Broad Arrow as well. This is a well made very interesting piece, 7 ½” long with both blades extended. See Ron Flook’s book entitled “The London Knife Book” plate 3 for a picture in the book. The two blades are a bistoury and a scalpel.
